Universal Helicopters working with Dodge City Community College, provides Helicopter Flight Training for the College at Dodge City
Airport, Kansas.
Dodge City Community College Board of Trustees has implemented a helicopter flight program in business partnership with Universal
Helicopters. UHI has established a helicopter flight program at the college so students can earn a private pilot certificate, a
commercial pilot certificate, a one-year certificate or an associate of applied science degree after four semesters of flight
instruction, support courses and general education classes. The program will then continue until students have earned their FAA
Instrument Rating, Flight Instructor Certificate, and Flight Instructor Instrument Ratings.
This is a program that is not duplicated anywhere in the nation according to Danny Gillum, associate dean of technical education.
DCCC and Universal share the responsibilities of the program. The college works with recruitment, program admissions, assisting
students with financial aid, collecting tuition and fees and providing general education and support courses necessary for an
associate's degree.
Universal Helicopters provides hiring, training and monitoring of qualified instructors for flight training and advanced ground training for Dodge City Community College. We also provide helicopter flight and ground training to those interested in learning to fly helicopters who are not studying at the college.
